I'll be going to range today to sight in a M1D and have a question on the elevation adjustment. For the windage it looks like a counterclockwise rotation of the knob moves the POI to the right 1 MOA/click, but I cannot find similar info on the elevation adjustment. From what I have read, the elevation knob is in yds with each click being 50 yds, but how do I translate that to a MOA adjustment. In other words, if I am 4' low at 100 yds, how many clicks should I rotate the knob and which direction? I am guessing it would need to go clockwise (further distance), but my tiny brain is not seeing the big picture yet.TIA. The elevation is the same as the windage.
One click = approx 1' @ 100 yards (1 MOA). Just treat them like irons as far a come-ups. The numbers represent yards using M2 ball ammo and the trajectory will very with different loads.
If you are 4' low at 100 yards you need to come up 4 clicks. Hope this helps. JimThanks Jim.
At the range yesterday I found rotating the elevation knob clockwise raised the POI, but hadn't figured out the change per click. The scope is close now and I'll finish it up on the next trip. Just look at the numbers. When the numbers increase its raises your POI. That would be clockwise, I believe. I click equals 1' at 100 yards, 2' at 200 yards and so on. IF you run out of adjustment follow these instructions to increase the adjustment range beyond the internal stop. Here's other info on windage. For elevation turret resetting you'll need a spanning tool that can be made with a proper width flat blade screwdriver and Dremel or file.Pictured is an original. One thing to remember when using an M84.
Use the top of the post like you would your iron sight as your aiming point. Then use a 6 o'clock hold. You`ll find trying to aim using the 'crosshair' point covers way too much target center especially at longer ranges or smaller targets. That was meant to be used as a quick 500 yard holdover for snipers.or so I've been told and have proven in live fire. Trying to aim center mass with the top of the post will frustrate the hell out of you becsuse of it's size. By using the 6 hold the bottom of the black/or any target is narrow and easily centered on top of the post. Heck that 2.5 scope is nothing more than a slightly enhanced front sight anyway.

When you shoot in typical 600 yard sniper ranges you'll appreciate the importance of that aiming point. Just look at the numbers. When the numbers increase its raises your POI. That would be clockwise, I believe. I click equals 1' at 100 yards, 2' at 200 yards and so on. When you shoot in typical 600 yard sniper ranges you'll appreciate the importance of that aiming point. Thanks Larry,I had downloaded your instructions from an earlier post and while excellent, they did not address the the elevation adjustment. Between your docs and Jim's help I think I have everything I need.cwmoss,I could only find M82 info on the Hilux site. Do you have a link for the M84 instructions? Usually, UP and RIGHT is clockwise. There may be exceptions, but I haven't personally run across one yet.For the M84, right is a CCW rotation of the windage knob. From Larry's link;'For windage adjustment, each click represents one minute of angle. When the windage knob is turned it shifts the point of impact of the bullet on the target 1-inch at 100 yards.

Turning the windage knob counterclockwise will shift the point of impact of the bullet to the right. Turning the knob clockwise will shift the impact to the left.' For elevation CW for moving the POI up is correct.
